This Veterans Day, as the nation honors its servicemen and women, Three Dog Bakery and man’s best friend will be doing their part to raise funds ultimately providing military veterans with service dogs, again.

On November 11th of every year, we recognize and honor all Veterans for their service to our country and the sacrifices that they made in keeping our freedom intact.  On November 11th of every year, Three Dog Bakery donates 15% of all sales of our products sold through all channels, to Food Industry Serving Heroes (F.I.S.H.). These donated funds will be utilized to aid veterans in their daily lives by purchasing service dogs whos’ training is specialized in supporting the specific needs of these veterans.

There is a myriad of challenges that returning military personnel face, from loss of dexterity to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), usually a combination of issues. Transitioning back to civilian life can be difficult. However, service dogs that have been specially-trained can be a vital asset to increasing the independence of their human partners by helping them perform a multitude of tasks from picking up things that are dropped, and giving emotional support as well. Studies have already proven that when a person is paired with a service dog, they show significant improvements psychologically, socially – even economically.fLAGGracie Leaping
Today, we encourage you to shop at your local Three Dog Bakery or on our online store at www.threedog.com. Your purchases support us in our effort to honor our heroes, and that is something that you and your pets can feel good about.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2014, the United States has approximately 1.6 million veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts alone – 21% of whom suffer from a service-connected disability. That statistic comes out to more than 300,000 people dealing with a new disability as they enter into their post-combat lives, many of whom could benefit from the help of a service dog.

And to our Veterans, THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice to help keep us free.
