In honor of National Food Drive month, participating Three Dog Bakery Stores are having a food drive competition! 

Each bakery has partnered with a community dog-related charity, and for the entire month of May you can purchase a bag of Bake to Nature® dog food to help local dogs in need.

Don’t live near a bakery?  You can still help.  Three Dog Bakery Headquarters is donating 1,000 pounds of food & 100 pounds of treats to the Three Dog Bakery Store’s  that gets the most new Facebook “Likes” in the month of May.  Those additional pounds of food and treats will be dontated to the winning Bakery’s charity. So review the list of bakeries and charities,  then head over to Facebook and start liking those pages!

Charity: Guardian Rescue – Pet Rescue of Memphis

Info: Saving one animal will not change the world, but the world will change for that one animal. Guardian Angel Pet Rescue is a Memphis-based, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lost and unwanted pets. Founded in 2001, the rescue has already placed almost 3,000 dogs and cats but currently has over 120 animals in foster care.  There are many more animals in shelters facing euthanasia or in otherwise helpless situations.  We have seen a drastically increased number of animals needing help due to escalating home foreclosures and unemployment.  These animals are desperate for your help! Info:  The Richmond Animal League (RAL) is the area’s oldest non-profit “no-kill” organization committed to reducing the homeless pet population in the Richmond area. Charity: Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada

Info: As of September 2010, over 3,200 retired greyhounds have been placed into forever homes across NS, NB PEI and NFLD through GPAC. Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada (GPAC) a 100% volunteer driven, Canadian registered non-profit society, is located in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia. Today GPAC arranges for the dogs to be transported safely in special greyhound transporters by professional dog haulers. The dogs arrive stress free in loads of 30 every 30 -45 days.  Read more >

Charity: Protection of Animals Lantau South (PALS)

Info: In 1998 several like-minded volunteers, all passionately fond of animals, came together to consolidate the individual efforts they had been trying to make in South Lantau and Discovery Bay to help stray animals. The increasing number of abandoned dogs, dumped puppies, street cats and their litters of kittens was very distressing and we hoped that we could make a valuable contribution. The name PALS was suggested by a friend who thought the original acronym SLAP (for South Lantau Animal Protection) not entirely appropriate!   Read more >
